The day commenced with Mike Revell and Claire Hyde from Huhtamaki (UK) who outlined how the Huhtamaki Food Services business developed the S&OP process from a background of absolute chaos customer service to a robust integrated model Class A, focusing on the demand process development.
Paul Callaghan of Premier Farnell then went onto explain in his presentation how the S&OP process was adapted for a global group of distribution companies to improve performance and drive business growth, with a series of S&OP cycles that was established with linkages to performance management, budgeting and strategy processes.
We completed the programme with Jerry Shanahan from Depuy Ireland. He focused on the approach taken to overcome the significant challenges of implementing a process that fundamentally changed the culture of how the company planned its business. He also concentrated on how this was accomplished in a relatively short period of time and provide some guidance for other organisations who may be faced with similar complex environments.
