Proven Path Club - The Hanover International Hotel & Club
07 March 2002
A different venue, in the form of The Hanover International Hotel in Daventry, was chosen for this year's Proven Path Club Meetings.
The hotel is idyllically situated by Drayton Water in picturesque Northamptonshire and is easily reached from the M1, M6 and M40 motorways.
The first meeting of 2002 held on Thursday 7th March had an interesting agenda consisting of four stimulating presentations to kick-start the New Year. It commenced with Manfred Stehl of 3M Deutschland GMbH, Automotive Market Center, who shared his experiences of how low-cost investment in Lean Manufacturing methodologies increased velocity, which resulted in the time to satisfy an order being greatly reduced.
Alan Roberson from Parsons Energy & Chemicals Group explained how to make sense of the new Quality Management system standard (ISO9001) by applying MRP II Class A principles.
The afternoon commenced with Stewart Kelly from Flexsys guiding us through his journey of changing focus from a customer intimacy strategy to one of operational excellence and how this was achieved using Oliver Wight and Class A.
The programme concluded with the very popular and frequently requested topic of 'Behaviour Change', which was presented by Lloyd Snowden of Sab Wabco, who guided us through an S&OP implementation from a people rather than a process perspective.
Global Class A: 13 Flexsys sites achieve award in Planning and Control
Oliver Wight President Andrew Purton took the opportunity to present Project Director Jonas Weidler and his team from Flexsys with a plaque in recognition of the outstanding efforts in achieving Class A performance standards in planning and control at no less than 13 of its companies worldwide.
Flexsys is a major supplier of rubber chemicals to the auto industry and employs 1500 people in 18 plants around the world. It decided late in 1999 to design and introduce integrated business processes to generate major improvements in customer service, productivity, cost and working capital. To achieve these strategic objectives it adopted Oliver Wight methodologies and MRPII principles globally, as defined by the Class A Fourth Edition Checklist. All 13 sites achieved the standard by December 2001.
