This course supports the ‘Optimising the Supply Chain’ course and gets to the heart of practical issues of distribution, logistics, and warehouse management. Both internal and external logistics are covered. In an interactive style it takes serving the customer as its theme and gives an understanding of the overall scope of logistics and enables managers to establish the right distribution network and set the optimum stock levels; understand warehouse design and layout and the everyday management issues that make the difference; and plan and manage appropriate transport and delivery arrangements. It also covers the potential for 3PL and 4PL logistics, and how to get value for your money. This hands-on course covers the strategic choices underpinning customer service and how to manage them; the understanding of distribution networks and setting stock levels; warehouse design principles; stock management and picking options; transport and delivery planning and management, and introduces the latest logistics concepts.
